Victoria Beckham Has Just Launched Not One, But Three Luxury Perfumes That Will 100% Turn Heads

Victoria Beckham's career evolution is one to be studied. From '90s pop star sensation in the Spice Girls to serious luxury fashion designer, Victoria added beauty mogul to her repertoire back in 2019. Now she's poised for another new chapter as she makes her mark on the fragrance world.
Over the years, we've celebrated VB's impeccable clean girl style and design prowess, so there's a certain expectation now that she's turning some of that focus to perfumes. And yet, scent it seems has always been important to her. When I asked one colleague what their first impression of Victoria was when meeting her, they told me: “Well, she smelled nice”. Another colleague remembered that she used to scent her fashion shows with Diptyque candles in Feu de Bois and Baies editions.
One reason this new perfume venture feels like a natural progression for the fashion icon is because she has made it personal. We literally join her on an olfactory journey of her life with not one but three eau de parfums – Portofino ‘97, Suite 302, and San Ysidro Drive.
There’s one for every tribe of perfume wearer – the dare devils, the mysterious ones and those us who rely on a crowd pleaser. Created in collaboration with the master parfumier Jérôme Épinette, these genderless artisanal fragrances are a vivid blend of VB's very personal recollections of her life.
I managed to get my hands on all three perfumes and here is everything you need to know about them…
Meet the reviewer
As a beauty writer, I couldn't possibly tell you how many perfumes I've tried and tested over the years. Hundreds if I had to guess, but it could easily creep to a thousand or so. I'm predictable when it comes to my hero scents: oud, wood, musk. However, what's not predictable is what I would wear on a regular day to day basis, or a night out.
25 best oud perfumes that scream ‘main character energy’Gallery26 PhotosI don't have a signature scent – I like to layer, instead, matching my scents to whatever I'm wearing. Yellows call for one or two citrus scents layered together; blues and denim mean call for a skin scent. Like Victoria Beckham, I also use fragrance as a sort of olfactory diary – to the point that if I smell something that I used to wear in my intern days, it will take me straight back.
Victoria Beckham Portofino '97 review: At a glance
- GLAMOUR star rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Reasons to buy: The crowd pleaser scent, feminine yet seductive
- Reasons to avoid: The luxury price point if you're buying online without having smelt it IRL
- Price: 50ml £170, 100ml £245
- Our verdict: This eau de parfum is perfect for transporting you out of the colder months and into spring. It screams new beginnings with its floral and citrus top notes, before turning peppery and warming up on the skin for a something a little more sultry.
On paper, I wouldn't have picked this scent. But I've sat with it for a while and Portofino ‘97 has slowly crept its way to the top spot, becoming my favourite of the trio.
With notes of bergamot, black pepper, incense and amber, the scent is fresh but still comforting, with a warm embrace from the patchouli and vetiver at its base. When I wear it, I imagine myself waking up in the Italian Riviera, my crisp white bed sheets bathed in sunshine and a gentle breeze blowing the linen curtains over partially open balcony doors.
I've come to find out that this fragrance bottles Mrs Beckham's memories of her first getaway with her husband David and it all now makes sense. This eau de parfum perfectly frames the scene of a secret Italian rendez-vous and the thrill of young love.
Victoria Beckham Portofino '97 50mlRoad test: I popped this scent on when the clock struck 5:30pm. Although the initial hit of Portofino '97 is punchy, it mellows when the amber and patchouli push through. By the end of the night the scent settled and I could still smell the intimate leftovers of vetiver.
Victoria Beckham San Ysidro Drive review: at a glance
- GLAMOUR star rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Reasons to buy: Uplifting, sexy, time neutral
- Reasons to avoid: Not for lovers of soft skin scents
- Price: 50ml £170, 100ml £245
- Our verdict: Fun yet sophisticated with a whisper of sweetness undercut by agarwood.
Now this is a bit more like me. San Ysidro Drive is the fun middle child of the VB fragrance family. With notes of passion fruit, pink peony, ocean air infused with rose absolute, saffron flower, and agarwood, it's certainly an eclectic mixture of notes. But it truly embodies Victoria Beckham's transformative phase in Los Angeles – just as it was intended to – and we're vicariously living a Posh Spice summer with each spritz.
This fragrance evokes that signature slow pace of Californian life, from meditative hikes in the canyons to ocean air blowing through your hair and the comforting scent of burning candles at home. But the real magic lies in the warm base notes.
Victoria Beckham San Ysidro Drive 50mlRoad test: I sprayed San Ysidro Drive first thing in the morning to channel those positive ‘fresh start to a new day’ vibes. The initial rush of passion fruit and pink peony gave way to tranquil, oceanic freshness, even though I was facing the busy streets of London. By dusk, it had evolved into the type of comforting aroma that feels like a hug in a bottle.
Victoria Beckham Suite 302 review: at a glance
- GLAMOUR star rating: ⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Reasons to buy: Punchy, smoky, rich
- Reasons to avoid: Raw and for some, too overpowering
- Price: 50ml £170, 100ml £245
- Our verdict: Want to smell expensive and like a timeless family heirloom that will be passed down generations? Try this scent.
Suit 302 is the confident older sister to San Ysidro Drive. With notes of black cherry, red peppercorn, midnight violet and musk, it's designed to transport you to the Parisian hotel where Victoria and David celebrate their wedding anniversaries.
It's certainly a big and opulent scent, which I usually gravitate towards, but surprisingly, it has to be said that this is my least favourite perfume of the bunch. The notes feel too isolated rather than blending seamlessly into one another, which can make the finished product feel a little too raw and overpowering at times. This is especially true of the smoky and leather notes – they feel too intense, like a designer leather jacket that has absorbed the smell of too many Cuban cigars.
Victoria Beckham Suite 302 50mlRoad test: Suite 302 is definitely a night time scent. It turns heads, yes, but it felt overpowering on my wrists as the smoky elements lingered for longer than I would have liked. The blend of black cherry, red peppercorn, and musk do create an aura of intrigue, though and hours later, the fragrance had transformed into something unexpectedly velvety and sensual.
The Final Verdict
Each fragrance is a beautifully crafted memory. But like all good perfumes, Victoria Beckham's collection is also very evocative so each one transports you to a different time and place and allows you to create memories of your own. The longevity of these fragrances on the skin is impressive, ensuring that your chosen scent will accompany you throughout your day or evening, and I personally think it's worth experiencing each one for yourself.
