Carole Kean

Carole Kean, legit actress who appeared in productions at the Ahmanson Theater and Mark Taper Lab in L.A. as well as numerous other cities around the country, died April 23 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center following a short battle with ovarian cancer. She was 58.

Kean appeared in productions at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theater, among others.

She also was in several films, including “Monster in the Closet” (1986), “Stewardess School” (1987) and “The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking” (1988).

In 1985 she founded her own company, Starmax Prods., for which she wrote, produced and directed four murder-mystery and cabaret events. She continued with the venture until her recent illness forced her to withdraw.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, actor Earl Boen; a brother; and numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at a site to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society, specifically for ovarian cancer research.
