This rose perfume has been my signature scent for six years and I still can't get enough

Publish date: 2024-03-10

You don't have to be a fragrance connoisseur to know that rose perfumes are a cult classic. They're considered the crème de la crème of floral scents, and for a good reason too. Most of us would find them nostalgic and, at times even too familiar, but rose fragrances are much more versatile than you'd think.

They can be easily adopted as signature scents that you would wear day-to-day and as fragrances that you'd normally save for special occasions. Speaking of, many have also dubbed rose perfumes as a firm-favourite among the brides-to-be, and it's easy to see why. They embody femininity, confidence and tenderness all at once, which is exactly what some of us would want to channel on our wedding day.

Otherwise, rose fragrances can also be intense, sensual and alluring, while others can feel more refreshing and colourful. And although most of them feature rose notes at the heart, the surrounding base and top notes are exactly what make each one of those fragrances unique. Those that are complimented by musky notes, vetiver and patchouli usually have a more “confident” character, whereas those that are followed by fresh, citrusy notes of grapefruit or blackcurrant can be on the more sweeter and playful side.

Personally, I've developed a special bond with my rose fragrances, particularly with one that's been by my side for nearly six years (yes, really). Enter, Parfums De Marly Delina Eau De Parfum, the one fragrance that I refuse to replace as my signature scent. I've had it long before I became a beauty journalist, but even now, I'm still yet to find an option that would come close to this unique fragrance. Featuring notes of Turkish rose, it's also accompanied by peony and vanilla, with a base of woody and musky notes becoming more prominent after it has a chance to dry down. The best part is that it's super long-lasting. Seriously, you only need 2-3 spritzes and you're good to go.

But if you want to meet your rose perfume match, be warned that there's a great deal of options to sift through. There are just about as many types of perfumes as there are types of roses (in other words, a whole lot). Plus, let's not pretend that shopping for a perfume online is easy, given how you can't actually sniff through the screen. The good news is that we've done the hardest part and cherry-picked the very best options on the market right now. Our edit includes everything from cult-favourites as well as new releases and trending scents straight from #PerfumeTok. We've considered every budget and preference, so there's definitely something for every perfume obsessive.

Best rose perfume overallParfums De Marly Delina Eau De Parfum£270 at Selfridges£230 at Fenwick

Why we love it: If you're a fan of woody and floral notes and are after a signature scent, the Delina Eau De Parfum from Parfums De Marly might be just the thing. Centred around Turkish Rose, this unique fragrance is also accompanied by heart notes of peony and vanilla, met with a base of woody cashmere, musk and vetiver. It's feminine, sensual and delicate, making it great for the brides-to-be.

GLAMOUR-approved: “I purchased my first bottle of Delina long before I became a beauty journalist. In fact, it was my very first ‘premium’ fragrance that I treated myself with right before Christmas in 2017. And guess what? Six years on, I still can't get enough of this perfume. It's one of the few cases where the packaging perfectly captures the scent. I'd describe it as femininity in a bottle with just the right amount of playfulness and romance.”
